Valkyrie Week | Day 3: Ashley's Outfits

August 3, 2018 Rook Errant

I sketched these while drawing the Tess comic trying to figure out a style for smaller figures on the page, when they are shown full-body in a small panel, and there's not enough resolution to draw features, like this:

I know I could be using photoshop to draw more detailed figures and features at any size, but I think there's a certain charm to the cartoony proportions and poses that come out in small panels. The proportions and posture can sometimes really express an attitude in the pose.

This actually ended up being my favorite panel from the Tess comic:

Do you have any thoughts on this style? Let me know! I think I would only use it in comics and keep the bodies high-detail for full-page pinups.

Valkyrie week will have a mix of stuff that should be representative of the range of quality I have in the sketch pile, some is pretty sketchy like today's, but others are higher detail, as you'll see later this week.
